Consultation & REACH Licensing
We believe REACH© has become a well-regarded, unique program at OSU and at other institutions because it is designed for everyone and anyone who works or studies on a college/university campus. Using evidence-based and practices, integrating participant feedback, and collecting data frames how we continue to update and refine the content. We are proud to be recognized for leading the way for how to create a comprehensive model for campus suicide prevention.
We often get inquiries from other colleges and universities about how our program developed and even more specifically, if REACH is available for purchase. While our focus and responsibilities will always be first on our OSU community, we do enjoy sharing our work and can offer consultative opportunities for the purposes of training campus stakeholders in a comprehensive approach to suicide prevention. We can also develop a licensing agreement to learn how to implement REACH using a train the trainer model. How REACH© Can Benefit You
REACH training empowers individuals across institutions to become certified suicide prevention gatekeepers, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to make a meaningful impact. By participating in REACH, faculty, staff, and students learn how to:
-
Educate and Raise Awareness: Understand the widespread impact of suicide and help dispel myths about mental illness and suicide.
-
Identify Risk Factors and Warning Signs: Recognize when someone may be at risk and engage with them in a compassionate, informed way.
-
Ask Directly About Suicide: Use precise language to ask about suicide.
-
Respond with Empathy and Hope: Offer support and hope to individuals in distress, fostering a sense of connection and understanding.
-
Serve as a Bridge to Resources: Help connect individuals struggling with suicidal thoughts to the appropriate care and support.
